Initially contracted to install new costing and estimating computer system and train personnel. Upon completion of initial assignment, engaged to re-engineer business process for commercial printing operation. Redesigned entire process flow for raw materials inventory layout, manufacturing, bindery and finished goods shipping. Results reduced clean up and make ready time by 65%, reduced overtime and second shift requirements by 45%, increased throughput by 35% and reduced inventory costs and cycle time by 25% without any increased cost of personnel, inventory investment or machinery.

Engaged to review and re-engineer business process of manufacturing sole proprietorship. Evaluated existing operations, identified bottlenecks and non-value added processes and recommended suggested enhancements to process. SMG was then engaged to implement all recommended changes, which resulted a 350% increase in throughput, reduced per item cost by 75% and allowed company to be featured on QVC as one of "North Carolina's Own."

Contracted to write business plan for a start up lumber brokerage business. Involved evaluating the business environment, management, competition, supply and demand, pricing, administrative start up and on going costs, etc. When plan was completed and approved, SMG assisted with the procurement of funding by presenting the business plan and concept to potential investors. A funding source ultimately invested in the company, which has since been sold.

After initial round of funding, SMG was engaged as CEO and member of the Board of Directors. Provided strategic business, marketing and financial advice for company. Co-Owner and CEO of software application Development Company. Primary product is a filtering application used in forensic analysis, surveillance and ongoing protection of computers and companies from pornographic images. Wrote business plan, developed PowerPoint presentation, and secured funding and initial product presentations to clients.

Currently served as member of the Board of Advisors for software Development Company engaged in developing next level social networking site with working back office models targeting customer loyalty, retention and business development. Application currently in R&D phase and is seeking funding product launch and marketing.

Co-Founder and President/COO of Computer Hardware Sales and Distribution company. Established exclusive US relationship with Taiwanese manufacturer of unique All-in-One PC product. Provided management and business development services resulting in sole source arrangement with several medical and retail establishments. Company ultimately acquired and consolidated into other Co-Founder's operations.

Initially engaged as consultant to Board of Advisors for general business strategy and direction. Engagement developed into more permanent election as Secretary/Treasurer of the company and a member of the Board of Advisors. Became a Member/Owner of the company in 2000. Currently hold this position.

Co-Founder, Member/Owner and acting CFO of Medical Services Company. Ongoing operations involve Clinical Pharmacists embedded in Physician Office practices as well as on company site encounters focused on Drug Therapy Management for improved health outcomes. Engaged by BCBS as marketing and training arm of ePrescribing initiative in North Carolina. Have assisted in the growth of the company from 1 employee to 18 as well as a 2,000%+ increase in revenue.

Co-Founder and CEO of Company formed to commercialize NASA Patented Remote Monitoring Alarm System. Utilizing the technology NASA developed to monitor the systems on the Cape Canaveral launch pad, RMAS endeavored to modify the application and hardware to integrate legacy systems within office building to better utilize and leverage capacity and efficiencies. Company was dissolved as licensure was not renewed by NASA.
Merger & Acquisition Engagements
Successful merger of Telecommunications Company with a Data Technology company.
Developed and executed merger of two companies including relative valuation, financial structuring, transition and ultimate realignment of operations and responsibilities. This new organization has been able to maintain profits and grow sales while reducing overhead and infrastructure through resource reallocation and managed costs effectively while continuing to provide a high level of customer service.
Assisted with Leveraged Buyout of Company to Management Team.
After successful consulting engagement, SMG was contracted to assist in the management buyout of the company. Provided assistance with valuation of company, negotiation of terms and financing transaction.
Successful merger of operations.
With trends in the marketplace shifting, it became apparent that the company's survival would be better served as a division within an existing operation rather than a standalone unit. After deliberation and negotiations, the company ultimately acquired and consolidated into one of the other Co-Founder's operations.
